Personal WhatsApp account Most individuals utilize a personal WhatsApp account for daily communication with friends and family. This requires installing the app on a smartphone and registering with a phone number. Users can exchange messages and create broadcast lists with their contacts.
WhatsApp Business Account If your WhatsApp account is a business account, the display name is only shown in the contacts view in smaller text; all other views will show the phone number (unless the account is Business verified, in which case the business display name will be visible, see Business Verification). You can help customers learn more about your company by filling out your business info, including business website, address, and hours.
Official WhatsApp Business Platform If your WhatsApp account is an official business account there will be a green checkmark beside the displayed name in the contacts view.

If the "Start verification" button is not visible in the Security Centre, check if verification is required for desired features, based on any received notifications or emails.   1. Navigate to the Security Centre in Business Manager and click "Start Verification."
  2. Enter your business details and click "Next."
  3. Choose your business from the provided list or select "None of these match" if not listed.
  4. Select a verification method: Phone call, Text Message, Email Verification, or Domain Verification.
    1. For Phone or Text, provide a document with your organization's name and phone number.
    2. Email Verification is the quickest method.
    3. For Domain Verification, use an already verified domain or verify your domain and then continue.
  5. Upload documents to confirm your Business Name & Address.
  6. Choose an accepted document type for upload.
  7. If the document includes a phone number or address, confirm in the next step.
  8. Provide your business email and enter the verification code received.
  9. Click "Submit" to finish.
  10. Once submitted, wait for confirmation of verification. Check your status in the Security Centre.

  1. Log into your Facebook Business Manager account and click on 'Business Settings'.
  2. Select 'Security Center'.
  3. View the verification status displayed.

What if the 'Start Verification' button is greyed

Meta may prevent your business from being verified if the submission does not meet the requirements for verification. This could include:

  1. Submitting, or being suspected of submitting false or misleading information
  2. Attempting to claim or verify a business account you don't own or have authorization to represent
  3. Trying to circumvent Meta's verification review system
  4. Having a website that fails to load, is not HTTPS compliant, or contains a link that leads to an error message

If your business verification application was rejected, you may be eligible to appeal. Visit the Security Centre or return to where you began the verification process to learn more about the status of your verification.
